Franchezca Mae Correa (Ketchikan, RAHI 2022)
Chezca received the Alaska NSF EPSCoR - RAHI Partnership Scholarship for the fall 2025 semester.
She is pursuing a PhD in Pharmacology, driven by a passion for biochemistry research and improving access to life-saving medicines. Inspired by her family’s story of resilience and her parents’ sacrifices, Chezca aims to develop treatments that make a real difference in people’s lives.
Her early experiences exploring the Alaskan outdoors and conducting environmental DNA research sparked her love for scientific discovery. She later became inspired by global health initiatives, such as Partners in Health, whose work improving treatments for multidrug resistant tuberculosis highlighted the impact that accessible medicine can have on communities worldwide.
Chezca combines her scientific curiosity with a commitment to service, working to make essential medicines more accessible and improve healthcare outcomes for underserved populations. Her goal is to develop treatments and medications that bring hope and comfort to those who need it most, bridging her passion for research with meaningful global impact.
