Dr. Margot Boucher, DVM, DACVPM
Associate Professor of Veterinary Medicine
mmboucher@alaska.edu
I received my undergraduate degree from Bard College at Simon's Rock in 2010 and my D.V.M. from Kansas State University in 2014. I joined the University of Alaska team in 2025, following 11 years as an ICU/emergency clinician.
I am a board-certified specialist with the American College of Veterinary Preventative Medicine. My professional interests include emergency medicine and surgery, operational K9 programs, and international liaison/capacity-building. I currently serve as the command veterinarian for a Civil Affairs Battalion in the US Army Reserve.
I am passionate about fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration and a One Health approach to veterinary medicine. My goals as an instructor include inspiring curiosity and active engagement with the world, as well as exploration of the versatility of a veterinary degree.
In my personal time, I enjoy volunteering as an alpine ski patroller at Moose Mountain and as a K9 handler with PAWS Search and Rescue Dogs. My Australian cattle dog, Ullr, and I are a certified team in wilderness live air scent, trailing, and human remains detection.
